Party snack: Low FODMAP tortilla roll-ups with smoked salmon

In the Netherlands, this is probably the most served party snack ever: tortilla roll-ups filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese. You can serve them however you like, tortillas filled with smoked chicken and cream cheese are very popular too. It is super simple to make and everybody loves it, so with this snack, you will always do well at a party. I didn’t eat them for a very long time because the tortillas are never low FODMAP. But that is going to change now because I have a recipe for low FODMAP tortilla roll-ups with salmon and cream cheese!

Of course, you can fill the tortillas with whatever you prefer and the tortillas are also great to have for lunch or to use in a Mexican recipe for dinner.

What do you need (for 4 tortillas)

  • 100 g buckwheat flour
  • 1 egg
  • 300 ml water
  • 100 g smoked salmon
  • 100 g lactose-free cream cheese
  • Rocket lettuce
  • Pepper and salt

How to prepare the low FODMAP tortilla roll-ups with smoked salmon and cream cheese

  1. Mix the egg with the water using a whisk. Add the buckwheat flour little by little and add a pinch of salt too. Whisk until you have a smooth mixture.
  2. Heat some oil or baking spray in a pan and pour some of the batter into the pan. Fry the tortillas in about 2 minutes per side until they are done. I made 4 tortillas with the batter.
  3. Leave the tortillas to cool.
  4. When the tortillas have cooled down, you can spread the lactose-free cream cheese on top. Divide the smoked salmon over the tortillas and sprinkle some salt and pepper on top. Finally, add some rocket lettuce.
  5. Roll up the tortillas and cut them into pieces. You can store them in the fridge in aluminium foil until you serve them.
